Description
Programme and wordbook for a Concert in Aid of the Indian Relief Fund, given at the Town Hall, [Newport] on 29 October 1857.
This was a three-part concert, consisting of selections from the oratorios of Judas Maccabaeus (Handel), The Creation Haydn) and The Messiah (Handel), given by Miss Clowes and Mr H. J. Groves (vocal), Herr Pfeiffer (violin), Mr A. W. Waite (cello) and Mr Richardson (double bass), conducted by Mr Groves.

The Gerald Coke Handel Collection is an internationally important collection of material relating to Handel and his contemporaries, including manuscripts, printed books and music, libretti, paintings and engravings, memorabilia, art works and ephemera. The Handel collection is open for research Wednesday-Friday, and the display room (with access to recorded music) is open with the rest of the museum Tuesday-Sunday 10-6.
