Description
Programme and wordbook for a performance of Handel, Messiah, given on the morning of 9 October 1856 at the Philosophical Hall, Huddersfield, as part of the Huddersfield Musical Festival.
This document includes a list of the Patrons, Management and Chorus for the performance and cites the following vocal soloists: Mrs Sunderland, Miss Whitham, Miss Julia Bleadon, Miss Freeman, Miss Crosland, Mr Miranda, Mr Inkersall, Mr Lawler and Mr H. Phillips.
There is also a list of the instrumental ensemble, led by W. Hill and conducted by Alfred Mellon, with Mr J. Wood (accompanist) and Mr James Battye (chorus master).
