Description
A collection of programmes with words for two Grand Performances of Antient and Modern Music given at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden on 21 May 1831 and 27 May 1829, arranged in reverse chronological order within a bound volume.
Both were three-part concerts, consisting largely of vocal music, with orchestral overtures at the start of each act and some instrumental/concertate items.

Vocal: Miss Inverarity, Miss Hughes, Miss Pearson, Miss Riviere, Miss Bruce, Miss S. Phillips, Miss Byfeld, Miss Russell, Mrs Bedford, Miss Harrington, Miss Crawford, Miss Levoi, Mrs Mapleson and Mrs Waylett; Mr Braham, Mr T. Cooke, Mr Horn, Mr Bedford, Mr Robinson, Mr G. Smith and Mr Phillips.
Instrumental: Mr Oury (violin), Mr Lindley (cello), Mr Nicholson (flute), Signor Puzzi (horn) and Mr Harper (trumpet), led by Messrs Barton, Oury and T. Cooke (one player per act), with S. Wesley (organ), conducted by Mr Henry R. Bishop.

The first act of this concert comprised a Selection from Handel, Alexander's Feast whilst the second included the first English performance of Ferdinand Ries, Grand Overture to Die Rauberbraut.
Vocal: Miss Paton, Miss Love, Miss Farrar, Miss Gliddon, Miss Woodyatt, Master Smith, Miss Louise Jarman and Mrs W. Knyvett; Mr Braham, Mr W. Knyvett, Mr J.O. Atkins, Mr Horncastle, Mr Evans, Mr Hobbs, Mr J.C. Bond and Mr Phillips.
This programme also includes a list of the principal instrumentalists, led by Mr Weichsel, with Mr T. Adams, and a note stating that the chorus was supported by the choristers of the Chapel Royal and St. Paul’s Cathedral.
