Description
A miscellaneous collection of handbills and programmes for performances given in Oxford, Winchester and various other English provincial venues between 1899 and 1912 – including a number of programme fragments and undated items – held loosely as the first of two boxes of material bequeathed by the violinist Mary Gotch.
Also included is a programme for Saint-Saens, Samson and Delila, given at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden on 16 July 1909 and programmes with notes for two concerts given in Rome on 22 and 23 April 1911 by the Orchestra Lamoureux, conducted by Camille Chevillard.
Items are listed here by venue with the Oxford programmes followed by those for Winchester and then by other provincial venues.
1. Oxford
24 November 1906, New Examination Schools: Grand Piano and Violin Recital by Senor Sobrino and Senor Sarasate (handbill).
Wednesday 6 March [1907], Town Hall: Grand Pianoforte Recital by Paderewski (handbill). Also held is an undated document entitled Analytical Notes on Mr Paderewski's Programme but this does not seem to relate to the Oxford performance.

Wednesday 23 October [1912?], [no venue]: Orchestral Concert for the Library Fund of Dr. Allen's Orchestra (flyer).
2. Winchester
25 October and 22 November 1910 and 7 February 1911, St. John's Rooms, Winchester: Mr Stanley Blagrove and Dr Sweeting (single handbill). Also, an individual programme with notes (including lists of the Subscribers) for the final performance.
14 February 1911, Winchester College Music School: Lecture on Madrigals given by Dr. Sweeting (with words).

Wednesday 10 October [no year], National Schools, Path Fields, Haslemere: Concert in aid of the Schools' Building Fund, given by Donald Francis Tovey and Harold H. Joachim.
16 March 1899, Victoria Hall [Town Hall], Hanley: Sixth and Last Popular Concert given by Dr Joachim (violin), Fanny Davies (piano) and Osborne Williams (vocal) (with words).
Tuesdays 23 and 30 July [1907], York Minster: Organ Recitals by Mr T. Tertius Noble (handbills).
16 March 1910, Town Hall, Leeds: Leeds Philharmonic Society 6th Concert (Wagner) given by the Hallé Orchestra with Miss Agnes Nicholls, Mr Walter Hyde and Mr Robert Radford (vocal), conducted by Hans Richter (with words, Analytical Notes, musical examples, lists of the choral and orchestral ensembles and records of the Subscribers to the Society).
