Description
A collection of programmes for performances given at various London venues between 1923 and 1937, held as part of an envelope of loose material relating to the conductor Frederick Stock (1872-1942).
14 October 1923 and 2 March 1924, Finsbury Park Empire/Lewisham Hippodrome: Grand Operatic and Orchestral Concerts given by the National Sunday League Orchestra and Grand Opera Quartette (Josie Fearon, Phyllis Evennett, Gwynne Davies and Harry Brindle) with pianist Marie Novello (1924 only), as part of the Sunday Evenings for the People series run by the National Sunday League (est. 1855), conducted by Frederick Stock (with words). The programme for 1923 includes brief notes on certain of the works performed.
30 November 1934 and 14 December 1935: London and North Eastern Railway Musical Society with the Society's Full Orchestra, conducted by Frederick Stock and Leslie Woodgate (with words, historical and descriptive notes by Woodgate, lists of the choral and orchestral ensembles and lists of the Officers of the Society).
30 November 1934, Hamilton Hall, Liverpool Street Hotel, EC2: Bohemian Concert (Ladies' Night), with the London Section of the Male Voice Choir, Muriel Gale (vocal) and Victor Hely-Hutchinson (piano).
14 December 1935, Queen's Hall, Langham Place: Carols and Other Music with the Combined Male Voice Choirs from Cambridge, Doncaster, Grimsby, Ipswich, Lincoln, London, Norwich, Peterborough and York, including Ivor Keys, Prelude Heroique for Organ and Orchestra, with Sydney Harrison (first performance). Also, Joan Cross (vocal) and Dr P. G. Saunders and Stanley E. Macy (organ).
16 March 1937, [no venue]: Elgar, The Light of Life/Handel, The Messiah (parts II and III), given by the Woodford Choral Society with Miss Mary Hamlin, Miss Helena Taylor, Mr Ernest Hargreaves and Mr Stanley Pope (vocal) and an ensemble drawn from the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, led by Mr F. Stock and conducted by Mr W. J. Young (with a list of the instrumental performers).

Collections Overview
Founded in 1883, the RCM Library primarily supports the performance, study and research of RCM members. It is also open to the public for reference and research. It contains some 300,000 items, including significant collections of early printed and manuscript material from the 16th to 19th centuries, given to the College upon its foundation, specifically the Libraries of the Sacred Harmonic Society and of the Concerts of Ancient Music. Donations since have included autographs of composers of international renown, amongst them Beethoven, Chopin, Haydn, Mozart and Schubert, as well as manuscripts and archives of major British composers. Although a British bias is apparent, the collection also has significant German and Italian manuscripts and early printed holdings. Later acquisitions of printed music include large quantities of out-of-print material, and sizeable collections of performance sets. Audio-visual holdings and the RCM's own sound archive's are also extensive.
