Description A miscellaneous collection of handbills, programmes and programme booklets for performances of works by Handel, given outside of the UK (not Gottinger, Halle or Maryland) between 1900 and 2004, held loosely within a single box.

24–26 May 1900, Beethovenhalle, Bonn: Handel-Fest (single volume containing programmes and wordbooks with lists of the choral and orchestral ensembles and some handwritten annotations regarding the performances).

17–18 May 1905, Konzerthauses zu Mainz: [Handel-] Auffuhrungen der Kaiserin-Friedrich-Stiftung, consisting of three concerts including performances of Judas Maccabaeus and Saul (brochure with introductory notes, photographs and lists of the choral and orchestral ensembles).

25–28 October 1906, Berlin: Handel-Fest. The collection includes individual programmes and wordbooks, with historical and analytical notes (including musical examples), for the following performances.
25 October, Philharmonie: Israel in Egypt.
26 and 28 October, Kgl Hochschule für Musik: Konzert/Kammermusik.
27 October, Singakademie: Belsazar (with the Philharmonie Orchester).

6–8 June 1925, Leipzig: Deutsches Handelfest. Festival Brochure including programmes with words, historical notes and lists of the principal performances for performances given each day at the Gewandhaus (Belsazzar/Orchester-Konzert/Kammermusik/Salomo) and for a production of Tamerlan at the Städtischen Neuen Theater.

14–15 May 1955, 1–3 May 1959 and 6–7 May 1961, Lüdenscheid: XII, XVI and XVIII Kleines Musikfest in Lüdenscheid, given under the titles Telemann-Fest/Handel-Fest/Musica Britannica (programmes with words).

10 May-14 July 1959, Fiorentino: Calendario delle Manifestazioni, for the XXII Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (programme book with historical essays, photographs and illustrations and a list of the principal performers).

7 February 1984 and 15 December 2004, Lincoln Centre, New York: Handel, Rinaldo and Rodelinda given by the Metropolitan Opera, New York, conducted by Mario Bernardi and Harry Bicket respectively (with historical and biographical notes and lists of the choral and orchestral ensembles).

27 February 1985, Opernhaus am Karl-Marx-Platz, Leipzig: Handel, Almira, given under the auspices of Leipziger Theater and directed by Horst Gurgel (handbill, programme with notes and word sheet).

24 August 1985, Rat-Estonia: Handel, Alcina, directed by Uno Kreen (with historical notes and photographs).

1998–99, Palais Garnier, Paris: Handel, Alcina, given by the Opéra National de Paris (with words, a plot synopsis and a number of historical essays).

13, 16, 18 and 20 [month?] 2002, Estonia: Handel, Serses (with historical notes, photographs and illustrations, and lists of the choral and orchestral ensembles).

Collections Overview The Gerald Coke Handel Collection is an internationally important collection of material relating to Handel and his contemporaries, including manuscripts, printed books and music, libretti, paintings and engravings, memorabilia, art works and ephemera. The Handel collection is open for research Wednesday-Friday, and the display room (with access to recorded music) is open with the rest of the museum Tuesday-Sunday 10-6.
