Description The first of five boxes within the F. Gilbert Webb collection relating to the Royal Philharmonic Society, containing a miscellaneous collection of programme books for performances given at the Queen's Hall, London, during the 116th (nos. 4-8), 117th (nos. 1-8), 118th (nos. 1-3), 122nd (no.13) and 123rd seasons (nos. 1-3).

Unless otherwise stated below, these were two-part orchestral concerts, with some solo/concertante items, including a number of pieces receiving their first performances in England.

All programmes carry historical and analytical notes (with musical examples) and provide, where appropriate, the texts for the vocal/choral pieces. They also carry lists of the orchestral and choral ensembles and lists of the various Officers and Members of the Society.

A number of programmes carry handwritten annotations, which comment on the performances and on the works performed.

116th season

26 January 1928: Harriet Cohen (piano), conducted by Basil Cameron.
23 February 1928: Joseph Szigeti (violin), conducted by Vaclav Talich.
22 March 1928: Handel, Solomon, with the Philharmonic Choir and Dora Labbette, Stiles-Allen, Clara Serena and Walter Widdop (vocal), conducted by Thomas Beecham.
1 May 1928: Sir Hamilton Harty (conductor).

117th season
1 November 1928: Nicolas Medtner (piano), conducted by Sir Landon Ronald.
15 November 1928: including Schubert, Mass in E flat with the Philharmonic Choir. Also, Livio Mannucci (cello), conducted by Sir Henry J. Wood.
6 December 1928: Handel, Hercules, with the Philharmonic Choir and Dora Labbette, Stiles Allen, Muriel Brunskill, Tudor Davies and Horace Stevens (vocal), conducted by Thomas Beecham.
17 January 1929: Alexandre Barjansky (cello), conducted by Sir John Barbirolli.
31 January 1929: Artur Schnabel (piano), conducted by Basil Cameron.
21 February 1929: Wagner Programme with Horace Stevens (vocal), conducted by Albert Coates.
21 March 1929: Alfred Cortot and the London Select Choir, conducted by Thomas Beecham.
18 April 1929: Keith Falkner (vocal), conducted by Sir Henry J. Wood.

24 October 1929: Delius Festival Concert with Albert Sammons (violin), Pauline Maunder, Olga Haley, Herbert Heyner and John Goss (vocal) and the London Select Choir, conducted by Sir Thomas Beecham.
14 November 1929: Egon Petri (piano), conducted by Eugen Szenkar.
28 November 1929: Joseph Szigeti (violin), conducted by Hermann Scherchen.
