Description A collection of programmes and wordbooks for three concerts incorporating recitations by Ernst von Possart, given at the Queen’s Hall, London on 31 May and 2 and 4 June [1902].

All programmes include historical and analytical notes, with musical examples, by Edgar F. Jacques. Those for the first and third performances provide a full list of the orchestral ensemble.

31 May 1902: Bryon, Manfred, with incidental music by Robert Schumann, performed by the Queen’s Hall Orchestra and Choral Society, conducted by Richard Strauss. This document provides a full list of the vocal soloists engaged and carries an advertisement for a Grand Tchaikovsky Concert, given at the same venue on 12 June 1902, conducted by Henry Wood.

2 June 1902: Lord Tennyson, Enoch Arden, accompanied by music specially composed and performed by Richard Strauss.

4 June 1902: Orchestral Concert of music by Richard Strauss, with recitations of poems by Heine, given by the Queen’s Hall Orchestra, conducted by the composer.
