Description
A collection of programmes and handbills for performances given by the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the People's Palace, Mile End Road, London between 1945 and 1947, held loosely and arranged chronologically across boxes 27 to 29 of the Ernst Henschel collection (1892-1966). Also, a programme for the People's Palace Choral Society (conducted by William Cole) given at the same venue on 16 December 1950, held in box 31/i.

23 and 30 December 1945: J.S. Bach, Christmas Oratorio, with the BBC Symphony Chorus, conducted by Leslie Woodgate (box 27/ii).
10 February 1946: BBC Sunday Afternoon Concert, conducted by Albert Wolff (box 28).
5 and 19 October, 2, 16 and 30 November and 14 December 1946: conducted by Sir Adrian Boult/Nikolai Malko/Eugene Goosens/Rafael Kubelik/Clarence Raybould/Adrian Boult, including the first English performance of Martinu, Symphony No.4 (16 November) (box 28).
January-March 1947: BBC Concerts (prospectus with programmes, also including programmes for concerts in the series given at the Royal Albert Hall and in the Concert Hall of Broadcasting House) (box 29).
25 January and 8 February 1947: conducted by Constant Lambert/Alceo Galliera (box 29).
