Description A partially complete collection of handbills and programme books for the Sinfonie-Abend der königl. Kapelle/Sinfonie-Konzert die Kapelle der Staats-Opera given at the Königliches Opernhaus/Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Berlin between 1892 and 1936, held loosely and arranged in chronological fashion over the first 24 boxes of the Ernst Henschel collection (1892-1966).

Also, a miscellaneous collection of handbills and programmes for other performances given at this venue between 1895 and 1935.

1. Sinfonie-Abend der königl. Kapelle/Sinfonie-Konzert die Kapelle der Staats-Opera
Ten concerts of this sort were given annually between October and April, directed, unless otherwise stated below, by Felix Weingartner (to the end of 1906-07 season), Richard Strauss (1908-09 season to 1918-19), Wilhelm Furtwangler (1920-21 and 1921-22 seasons) and Erich Kleiber (from 1924-25 season).

The concerts became known as the Sinfonie-Konzert die Kapelle der Staats-Opera when the Königliches Opernhaus was re-branded as the Staatsoper after the fall of the German Empire in 1918.

Unless otherwise stated below, documentation for the early seasons consists of a handbill whilst, from the start of the 1912-13 season, complete programme booklets are provided.
