Description A collection of handbills and programmes for performances given by the pianist Ernst von Dohnányi at various European venues, 1899-1944, and programme books for 4 performances including music by Dohnányi, given at venues in America between 1954 and 1957, forming part of a volume of biographical materials relating to the performer.

This volume also contains four letters from Dohnányi to his father (1896-1901), two radio scripts, a university lecture on sightreading (c. 1949), lists of compositions, and a curriculum vitae.

1. European Concerts
A collection of handbills/programmes for 16 performances featuring Ernst von Dohnányi (piano), given at various European venues - the majority in Germany and Hungary - on the following dates:
11 January 1899, 20 December 1907, 28 January and 3 November 1908, 24 November 1909, 7 February [1932], 21 October 1939, 17 January 1940, 8 March 1941, 2 December 1942, 3 and 5 April and 7 November 1943 and 14 January, 4 February and 2 March 1944. Also, an undated programme book for a recital by Dohnányi and a handbill for a Klavier-Abende given by Eugen d'Albert (15 March 1907).

2. American Concerts
20 December 1954, Pabst Theatre, Milwaukee: including Dohnányi, Variations of a Nursery Air for Orchestra and Piano Obbligato, with Dohnányi (piano) and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (with notes).
20 November 1955, University of Wisconsin: Dohnányi Festival Concert presented by the University School of Music and Wisconsin Union Music Committee and given by the University of Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra (handbill).
16 January 1956, Memorial Auditorium: Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, including the first performance of Dohnányi, Stabat Mater for Six Part Chorus of Boys’ Voices with Orchestra (with notes by Willard L. Underwood and a list of the orchestral ensemble).
15 March 1957, [Cyrus Northrop Memorial Auditorium]: Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra 15th Subscription Concert (54th season) with Zino Francescatti (violin), conducted by Antal Dorati, including the world premiere of Dohnányi, Symphony in E major, op. 40 (with notes by Donald Ferguson).
