Description A miscellaneous collection of handbills and programme books for performances given at various London venues between 1932 and 1972, held loosely as the ninth box of the Cyril Eland collection (the first of three boxes of material relevant to London venues)

1. Queen's Hall
- BBC Symphony Concerts (1935–39)
All programmes include words, historical and analytical notes, musical examples, and lists of the choral and/or orchestral ensembles.
20 February 1935: Handel Anniversary Concert with Isobel Baillie, Heddle Nash, John Kentish and William Parsons (vocal), the BBC Chorus, conducted by Sir Adrian Boult.
19 January 1938: Willem Mengelberg (conductor).
11 January 1939: Mozart Concert, with Noel Eadie, Astra Desmond, Heddle Nash and Keith Falkner (vocal) and the BBC Choral Society, conducted by Bruno Walter.

- Beethoven Concerts (1939)
Prospectus, with outline programmes, for a series of Nine Beethoven Concerts, presented by the BBC in conjunction with the London Music Festival Council and given by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Arturo Toscanini and Adrian Boult. Also, individual programme books for concert nos. 1 and 6-8. All programmes include an Introduction by Ernest Newman and carry historical and analytical notes (with musical examples). There are also photographs of the conductors and soloists and lists of the orchestral and, where appropriate, choral ensembles.

22 May: Isobel Baillie, Margaret Balfour, Parry Jones and Harold Williams (vocal) and the BBC Choral Society.
26 May: Zinka Milanov, Kerstin Thorborg, Koloman von Pataky and Nicola Moscona with the BBC Choral Society.

- London Music Festival (1938)
Programme books for two concerts given by the BBC Symphony Orchestra on 23 May and 10 June 1938, conducted by Arturo Toscanini. The first concert featured Emanuel Feuermann (cello) and Bernard Shore (viola). Both programmes include historical and analytical notes, musical examples, photographs and a list of the orchestral ensemble. Also held are two copies of the prospectus, with programme listings, for the London Music Festival of 23 April-28 May 1939.

- Miscellaneous Queen's Hall concerts (1932–40)
All programmes include notes (the majority described as being Analytical) and, where appropriate, provide a list of the orchestral ensemble.
[undated]: Recital of Poplar Pianoforte Classics, presented by Russell-Fielding Celebrity Features and given by Solomon.
18 and 19 January 1932: Courtauld-Sargent Concerts (3rd series) with the London Symphony Orchestra, being a Piano Recital by Artur Schnabel.
16 January [1935]: Horowitz, given as part of the International Celebrity Subscription Concerts.
30 November 1935: Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Furtwangler (with photographs).
11 December 1935: Purcell, King Arthur, given as the first of a series of three special concerts organized by the British Broadcast Corporation and featuring Noel Eadie, Kate Winter, Enid Cruickshank, Parry Jones and Norman Walker (vocal) and the BBC Symphony Orchestra and BBC Chorus, conducted by Adrian Boult (with plot synopsis).
20 January 1938: London Symphony Orchestra (32nd season) with Landowska (piano), conducted by Anthony Collins.
7 April 1940: Beecham Sunday Concert given by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Basil Cameron (with photographs).

- London Bach Society
All programmes contain notes and are held with separate wordbooks. That for 1969 includes a list of the instrumental ensemble. All concerts were conducted by Paul Steinitz.
11 May 1968: Hazel Holt, Roland Tatnell, Neil Jenkins and John Barrow (vocal) and Robert Aldwinckle (organ), with the Cantata Orchestra.
16 February 1969: Steinitz Bach Players Ensemble with Valerie Hill, Robert Oliver and Nigel Wickens (vocal) and Tony Sharp (organ).
29 January 1972: Steinitz Bach Players with Sandra Wilkes, Margaret Cable, Neil Jenkins and Christopher Field (vocal), John Constable (organ) and Jill Cervenna, Peter Moorse and Stephen Ralls (piano).

25 February 1967, Royal Navel Chapel, Greenwich: various material relating to Haydn, a performance given by the Thomas Tallis Society with Alison Gordon, Pauline Stevens, Martin Hill and Christopher Field (vocal), directed by Philip Simms.
[no date] 1969, St. Paul's Cathedral: Schutz in the Round, given by April Cantelo, Meriel Dickinson, Jean Allister, James Bowman, Kenneth Bowen, Jacks Irons, Roger Stalman and Neil Howlett (vocal) with the Heinrich Schutz Choir and Choral, the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and the English Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Roger Norrington (with words and notes).
4 and 6 June 1969, St. Paul's Cathedral: Berlioz in St. Paul's, presented by the London Symphony Orchestra Ltd in association with the City Arts Trust Ltd. Both performances featured the London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Choral Society, the John Alldis Choir, the Chelsea Opera Group and the Wandsworth Boys Choir, conducted by Colin Davis. The first performance also included the bands of the Grenadier and Coldstream Guards (with words, historical and analytical notes and musical examples).
