Description
Programmes and wordbooks for the first performance of the first and third series of the Coventry Subscription Concerts, given at St. Mary’s Hall, Coventry on 10 November 1828 and 10 December 1830.
These were two-part vocal concerts, with an orchestral overture at the start of each act and a solo/concertante instrumental item by the leader of the concert in each part.
Both performances were accompanied by Mr Simms and both programmes provide a list of the principal string players. The programme for 1828 includes a Notice concerning the Terms of Subscription.
1828: Madame Caradori, Mr Hunt, Mr R. Best and Mr Bratt (vocal), led by Mr Oury.
1830: Miss Cramer and Mr Phillips (vocal), led by Mr Francois Cramer.
