Collection Description

Collection name Concert Organizers Office: Concert Programmes (1930-69)
Unique identifier R79/130/1
Description A miscellaneous collection of programmes for performances given under the auspices of the British Broadcasting Corporation – many including BBC ensembles and a number given for the BBC Third Programme – held at various venues in London, at a range English provincial venues and at Wellington Hall, Belfast between 1930 and 1969.

Also, a brochure for the Welsh tour undertaken by the BBC Singers in September/October 1943 (conducted by Leslie Woodgate) and programmes for performances given by the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Theatre des Champs-Elysees, Paris (18 June 1947) and in the Grote Zaal of the Concertgebouw, Den Haag (25 June 1947).

Many of these documents include words and programme notes (some with musical examples) and carry detailed information regarding the performers, including lists of the choral and/or orchestral ensemble and photographs.

All items are held loosely within a single folder. Programmes are listed here by venue, with London venues followed by provincial ones.
