Charles Winterbottom collection: volume 5 (1882-86)
Unique identifier
Description
A collection of handbills and programmes for performances given at various London venues – principally Crystal Palace and St. James's Hall – and in Leeds and Leicester in 1886, held as the last of five bound volumes comprising the collection of the double bass player Charles Winterbottom, all five volumes of which are contained in a single box.
Also, prospectuses and programmes for the performances given by the Clapham Amateur Orchestral Society at Clapham Hall between 1882 and 1886 and an undated handbill (Tuesday 7 September, no year) for a Grand Complimentary Benefit to Miss Dews given at Falcon Cliff, Douglas, Isle of Man.
Many of these documents carry handwritten annotations, the majority of which serve to confirm Winterbottom's involvement in the performance.
The programmes are listed here by venue, with the London venues followed by the provincial ones.
