Description
A miscellaneous collection of programme books for performances given at the Barbican Centre (9 programmes), the Royal Festival Hall (7 programmes), the Royal Albert Hall (1 programme) and St. Michael's Church, Cornhill (1 programme) between 1984 and 1992. Also, prospectuses and programme books for 9 performances given at various provincial English venues between 1989 and 2003. All items are held loosely as the 21st box of the Carl Newton collection.
All documents include programmes with words and notes. The majority also provide biographical notes (some with photographs) and lists of the choral and orchestral ensembles.
Programmes are listed here by location with the London venues followed by the provincial ones.

13 May 1984: Elgar Concert given in aid of the Christian Medical College and Hospital in Vellore, South India, by Margaret Cable (vocal), Alexander Baillie (cello), the Aeolian Singers and the New Westminster Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Joseph Pilbery.
9 October 1984: Vienna Symphony Orchestra with Tamás Vásáry (piano), conducted by Hans Vonk, given as part of the Endless International Concert Series.
15 May 1985: International Lunchtime Concert given by John Ogdon (piano), for the City Celebrity Series.
20 October 1987: A Celebration of Elgar, presented by the English Chamber Theatre and given by the English Chamber Orchestra with Faith Wilson (mezzo-soprano) and Olga Hegedus (cello), conducted by Donald Fraser.
13 February 1988: A Theme with Variations, A Celebration of British Music given by the London Symphony Orchestra with Felicity Palmer, Philip Langridge and Gwynne Howell (vocal) and the London Symphony Chorus.
4 June 1989: Elgar, The Kingdom with Margaret Marshall, Felicity Palmer, Arthur Davies and David Wilson-Johnson (vocal), with the London Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Richard Hickox.
4 February 1990: Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau (vocal), with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas.
25 February 1990: Nikon 10th Anniversary Concert Series with Sharon Sweet (soprano) and the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos.
25 March 1990: Elgar, The Apostles, with Marie McLaughlin, Alfreda Hodgson, Arthur Davies, Bryn Terfel, Stephen Roberts and Robert Lloyd (vocal) and the London Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Richard Hickox.

20 November 1985: Heroes of the Somme given by the Nemano Orchestra of London with the NELP Chorus, Harlow Chorus and Hatfield Philharmonic Chorus, conducted by Michael Kibblewhite.
28 October 1988: Beethoven Plus concert given by the London Mozart Players with Goldsmiths Choral Union, conducted by Brian Wright.
12, 19 and 26 October and 3 November 1988: Beethoven in Context, given by the London Mozart Players, directed by Jane Glover (single document). The middle performances of this sequence were held at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
15 November 1989: London Mozart Players with Lorraine McAslan (violin), conducted by Jane Glover.
21 February 1997: Russian National Orchestra with Nikolai Lugansky (piano), conducted by Mikhail Pletnev, given as part of the London International Orchestral Season.
21 May 1992: Elgar, The Kingdom, given as part of the Baptist Missionary Society Bicentenary Celebrations by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Pro Musica Chorus of London with Jane Eaglen, Carolyn Watkinson, Martyn Hill and Jason Howard (vocal), conducted by Owain Arwel Hughes.
