Description A collection of 19 programme books for performances given by the London Symphony Orchestra between 1992 and 1998, held loosely as the sixteenth box of the Carl Newton collection. This box also includes programme books for 2 performances by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (1988 and 1990) and 3 concerts by the Bach Choir (1985-91), given principally at the Royal Festival Hall, London.

All of these documents carry programme notes, biographical notes (with photographs) and lists of the orchestral and, where appropriate, choral ensembles. They also provide large amounts of information regarding the organizations by which the concerts are given.

- Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (1988/1990)
Both performances were given at the Royal Festival Hall and were conducted by André Previn.
9 December 1988: Emanuel Ax (piano), Arleen Auger and John Shirley-Quirk (vocal) and the Brighton Festival Chorus as part of the NEC International Series.
1 July 1990: A Festival of Brahms and Elgar with Christine Cairns (mezzo-soprano) and Horacio Gutiérrez (piano).


- London Symphony Orchestral (1992-1998)
Programme books for 18 performances given at the Barbican Centre London between 1992 and 1998 (see below). Also, a programme book for a performance by the same ensemble on 18 November 1965 at the Royal Festival Hall (conducted by Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt).
