Description
A miscellaneous collection of handbills and programmes with words for performances given at various venues in Banbury, Bloxham and Oxford between 1838 and 1867, pasted into one of five Banbury Scrapbooks.
Also, a programme with words for the Selection of Vocal Music given on 27 March 1858 at the Freemasons' Hall, London.
In addition to the concert programmes, this volume also includes a miscellaneous selection of largely undated wordbooks for various musical and dramatic entertainments (including five relating to Mr Henry Phillips) and a wordbook for Handel, Judas Maccabeus, produced by the Sacred Harmonic Society, The Strand.
The volume begins with photographic material relating to Banbury Rest Station during the World War I.

29 May and 7 October 1845 and 15 December 1846: Banbury Choral Society.
Also held is a wordbook for a performance of Handel, Messiah, given by the Banbury Choral Society (1847).

3. Oxford
1 December 1848, Theatre, Oxford: Grand Miscellaneous Concert with Mademoiselle Jenny Lind, Signor F. Lablache and Signor Belletti (vocal), conducted by Mr Balfe (with a list of the principal instrumental performers).
17 June 1863, Gardens of Worcester College, Oxford: Musical Fete given by members of the Apollo University Lodge with the Orpheus Glee Union, Jullien's Band and the Band of the Second Oxon (City) Rifle Corps.
