Description
A miscellaneous collection of programmes and wordbooks for performances given at a range of London venues, including extended runs of programmes for the Concerts of Ancient Music (1816 and 1817) and for Bartleman, C. Knyvett, W. Knyvett and Greatorex's Vocal Concerts (1816). Also, programmes for single performances given in Bath and Birmingham.
The programmes are bound chronologically as the sixth of seven volumes comprising the collection of Andrew Ashe (1759–1838). They are listed here alphabetically by venue, with the London venues followed by the provincial ones. The programmes for the Concerts of Ancient Music provide no indication of the venue but it is known from other sources that they were held at the New Rooms, Hanover Square.
Many of the programmes for the Vocal Concerts include lists of the principal vocal performers and of the orchestral ensemble, and those for the final concerts of the season provide a list of subscribers to the series. The programmes for the New Musical Fund include an introductory statement concerning the organization and provide lists of the Patrons, Donators and Subscribers.
