Description A souvenir programme, with wordbook, for [Handel], Acis and Galatea and [Purcell], The Masque of Love, as produced at the Great Queen Street Theatre, London, on 10 March 1902, with Martin Shaw (musical director).

This document includes a Foreword (by J. A. Fuller-Maitland) on the Purcell Operatic Society, which includes the claim that 'the work by Purcell given tonight is now presented for the first time in London'. The document also contains an essay by W. Barclay Squire on the characters in Acis and Galatea, photographs and illustrations and a list of the chorus members.

Collections Overview The Gerald Coke Handel Collection is an internationally important collection of material relating to Handel and his contemporaries, including manuscripts, printed books and music, libretti, paintings and engravings, memorabilia, art works and ephemera. The Handel collection is open for research Wednesday-Friday, and the display room (with access to recorded music) is open with the rest of the museum Tuesday-Sunday 10-6.
