Description One programme for the Purcell Commemoration held in Westminster Abbey on 21/11/1895. The conductors were Professor J.F. Bridge, Sir John Stainer and Sir Arthur Sullivan. The organists were Mr W.J. Winter, Mr Walter Alcock and Mr H. Davan Wetton. The solos and verse parts were sung by the lay-vicars of Westminster Abbey, The Choristers of the Abbey and Miss Florence Oliver.

Collections Overview The Henry Watson Music Library is named after Dr. Henry Watson, a renowned composer and teacher born in nearby Accrington. After his death in 1911 he bequeathed the contents of his private library to the care of Manchester City Council. Watson's original collection (some 16,700 volumes) has been supplemented by many important donations and acquisition since and has grown into one of the largest collections of music in any public library.
