Description This collection contains two individual programmes and five volumes of programmes. The first individual programme is for the recital by Halle, with Anna Regan as vocalist, on 4/6/1869 in St. James's Hall, Manchester. The second individual programme is for Halle's recital with Herr Stockhausen as vocalist, on 3/6/1870 -there is not venue mentioned. The five volumes are numbered 8,9,,13,14,15 which indicates that the run is incomplete. They all contain programmes for pianoforte recitals by Halle at St. James's Hall, normally with a guest vocalist. The dates of the volumes are the following:

Collections Overview The Henry Watson Music Library is named after Dr. Henry Watson, a renowned composer and teacher born in nearby Accrington. After his death in 1911 he bequeathed the contents of his private library to the care of Manchester City Council. Watson's original collection (some 16,700 volumes) has been supplemented by many important donations and acquisition since and has grown into one of the largest collections of music in any public library.
