Description This collection contains two bound volumes of programmes for Mr Halle's Concerts of Classical Chamber Music, given in the Town Hall, King Street, Manchester. The first volume dates from 25/11/1852 to 10/3/1853 and the second dates from 10/11/1853 to 4/3/1858. The programmes are made up of detailed analytical notes on the pieces being performed, including numerous musical examples.

Collections Overview The Henry Watson Music Library is named after Dr. Henry Watson, a renowned composer and teacher born in nearby Accrington. After his death in 1911 he bequeathed the contents of his private library to the care of Manchester City Council. Watson's original collection (some 16,700 volumes) has been supplemented by many important donations and acquisition since and has grown into one of the largest collections of music in any public library.
