This is a collection of 14 bound volumes of programmes for the Monday Popular Concerts given at St. James's Hall, London. The volumes are for the seasons 1859-60 (volume two) to 1874-75 (volume 17) with volume one and seasons 1865-66 1867-68 missing. There are also two volumes containing programmes for the first season, 1859,

Collections Overview
The Henry Watson Music Library is named after Dr. Henry Watson, a renowned composer and teacher born in nearby Accrington. After his death in 1911 he bequeathed the contents of his private library to the care of Manchester City Council. Watson's original collection (some 16,700 volumes) has been supplemented by many important donations and acquisition since and has grown into one of the largest collections of music in any public library.
