A bound volume of programmes (Me664) from all the concerts for the 1836 Festival

Another bound volume of programmes (Me665) from all the concerts for the 1836 Festival. This volume also contains the tickets for the performances. There is another volume under the same classmark that is virtually identical.

There is a fourth bound volume of programmes (Me667) from the 1836 Festival. It contains all the programmes from the concerts but also some tickets and a handwritten transcription of the sermon from the funeral of Madame Malibran De Beriot on 2/10/1836, who was one of the principal vocalists at the Festival.

Collections Overview The Henry Watson Music Library is named after Dr. Henry Watson, a renowned composer and teacher born in nearby Accrington. After his death in 1911 he bequeathed the contents of his private library to the care of Manchester City Council. Watson's original collection (some 16,700 volumes) has been supplemented by many important donations and acquisition since and has grown into one of the largest collections of music in any public library.
