Description
This collection contains one volume of programmes for Ernst Pauer's Historical Performances, held in the Queen's Concert Rooms, Hanover Square. The first two programmes have the dates 27/11/1867 and 4/12/1867. There are three further booklets in the volume that do not have any date or venue but state 'Ernst Pauer's Three Historical Performances of Pianoforte Music, in strictly chronological order' and they are labelled 'first performance', 'second performance' and 'third performance'.

Collections Overview
The Henry Watson Music Library is named after Dr. Henry Watson, a renowned composer and teacher born in nearby Accrington. After his death in 1911 he bequeathed the contents of his private library to the care of Manchester City Council. Watson's original collection (some 16,700 volumes) has been supplemented by many important donations and acquisition since and has grown into one of the largest collections of music in any public library.
