Description This is a collection of 63 volumes of programmes for the Concerts of Ancient Music. The concerts were held in the New Rooms, Tottenham Street until 1795, then from 1796-1803 in the New Room, King's Theatre, Haymarket, and then from 1804-1845 in the New Rooms, Hanover Square. The volumes for 1784, 1789, 1791, 1792, 1793, 1795, 1830, 1834, 1837, 1838, and 1842 are missing

Collections Overview The Henry Watson Music Library is named after Dr. Henry Watson, a renowned composer and teacher born in nearby Accrington. After his death in 1911 he bequeathed the contents of his private library to the care of Manchester City Council. Watson's original collection (some 16,700 volumes) has been supplemented by many important donations and acquisition since and has grown into one of the largest collections of music in any public library.
