Description Collection of 129 programmes from 'studio concerts' in 1960-61 and 13 programmes from the 'Public Concerts Series Season 1962-63' both by the Radio Eireann Symphony Orchestra and occassionally the Radio Eireann String Quartet, the Radio Eireann Singers, the Radio Eireann Choral Society. Each programme contains programme notes and notes on the composers.

Venues mentioned include: the Theatre Royal, Dublin; the Gaiety Theatre; St. Francis Xavier's Hall; The City Hall, Cork; the Regal Cinema, Waterford; Savoy Cinema, Limerick; Rosary Hall, Taylor's Hill, Galway.

First performance in Ireland of Valem's 'The Churchyard by the Sea' on 9/2/60.

Note in programme for 27/1/63-28/1/63 that Richard Lewis was indisposed and his place was to be taken by William McAlpine.

Collections Overview The National Library of Ireland has two collections consisting mainly of printed sheet music from the eighteenth to the early twentieth century. These include much material from the mainsteam western classical music tradition, but also material relating to little known Irish composers. The names of the two collections are the Joly Music Collection and the Additional Music collection. In addition the Library has a small but significant collection of music manuscripts. The general printed collections include some Irish ballad, folk-music and popular song collections.
