Description
Collection of circa 100 annotated programmes for concerts by both Irish (generally members of the Choir of the Goethe Institute) and German performers, presented by the Goethe Institute (German Institute for Cultural Relations), 37 Merrion Square, Dublin 2. Programmes include the 'Music in the Gallery' series, the 'Musica Poetica' series, the Christmas Concerts and numerous concerts presented in association with the Chaplaincy of Trinity College, Dublin. Mixed programmes from medieval to contemporary compositions. Programmes include biographies of performers and programme notes. Performances were held in Trinity College Chapel; the Examination Hall, Trinity College; the Goethe Institute; the Dagg Hall, Royal Irish Academy of Music; Ely Hall, 7 Ely Place; St. Francis Xavier Hall; St. Ann's Church, Dawson Street; Player Wills Theatre, South Circular Road; National Gallery of Ireland; Bank of Ireland, Head Office, Lr. Baggot Street; the Municipal Gallery of Modern Art, Parnell Square; the Edmund Burke Hall, Trinity College.
Collection includes correspondence, press releases, programmes for 'German Opera on Film' and a leaflet.

Collections Overview
The National Library of Ireland has two collections consisting mainly of printed sheet music from the eighteenth to the early twentieth century. These include much material from the mainsteam western classical music tradition, but also material relating to little known Irish composers. The names of the two collections are the Joly Music Collection and the Additional Music collection. In addition the Library has a small but significant collection of music manuscripts. The general printed collections include some Irish ballad, folk-music and popular song collections.
