Description
Collection of programmes relating to the Dublin International Festival of Music and the Arts 1959-61.
Festival programme guides for 14/6/59-21/6/59 and 26/6/[60]-3/6/[60]. These contain programmes for the individual concerts held during the festival, biographies and photos of composers and performers, and essay on music (including programme notes) by Frederick May, John F. Larchet, Anthony Hughes and John Barbirolli.
12 programmes from individual concerts in the 1961 festival.
2 typewritten programmes afternoon recitals in the festival [dates unknown].

1/7/60: Theatre Royal: Recital by Isaac Stern (violin).
1/7/60: Gresham Hotel: Concert of Irish Artists. Featuring Maureen Hurley, Mary Gallagher, Bernadette Greevy, Gerald Duffy and the Holy Faith Past Pupils Choir. Programme is accompanied by considerable notes by Acton.
1/7/60: Theatre Royal: Evening of Opera with Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana.
3/7/60: Theatre Royal: Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana and Our Lady's Choral Society.

Collections Overview
The National Library of Ireland has two collections consisting mainly of printed sheet music from the eighteenth to the early twentieth century. These include much material from the mainsteam western classical music tradition, but also material relating to little known Irish composers. The names of the two collections are the Joly Music Collection and the Additional Music collection. In addition the Library has a small but significant collection of music manuscripts. The general printed collections include some Irish ballad, folk-music and popular song collections.
