Description Collection of programmes relating to the Dublin Grand Opera Society from 1958-70.

The festival booklets (1958-70) contain programme notes on each work performed in the festivals, and biographies and photos of the performers and conductors. Members of the Radio Éireann Symphony Orchestra and the performing members of the Dublin Grand Opera Society delineated, as as the patrons.
1958: Gaiety Theatre: Festival of Italian Opera. Contains an essay by Larchet.
1961: Gaiety Theatre: Festival of Italian Opera.
1962: Gaiety Theatre: 21st Anniversary 1941-1962 of the society: Festival of Italian Opera. Essay by Larchet 'Opera in Dublin'.
1963: Gaiety Theatre: Festival of Italian Opera.
1964: Gaiety Theatre: Festival of Italian Opera.
1970: Gaiety Theatre: International Opera Season.

3/4/61-29/4/61: Leaflet for the Spring Season of the Dublin Grand Opera Society, presented with Radio Eireann.

Different festival programmes for the same Festival of Italian Opera 23/4/62-19/5/62 and 20/5/63-18/6/63: provide specific dates for the concerts, and list performers.

Collections Overview The National Library of Ireland has two collections consisting mainly of printed sheet music from the eighteenth to the early twentieth century. These include much material from the mainsteam western classical music tradition, but also material relating to little known Irish composers. The names of the two collections are the Joly Music Collection and the Additional Music collection. In addition the Library has a small but significant collection of music manuscripts. The general printed collections include some Irish ballad, folk-music and popular song collections.
