Description A collection of 216 volumes of programmes (as of 2006) from concerts promoted by the London Symphony Orchestra, 1904 onwards.

The collections contains programmes from concerts given by the London Symphony Orchestra. The concerts took place in a variety of venues, in both London and provincial locations. The principal venues include the Queen's Hall (1904-1941), Royal Albert Hall (chiefly from the series "Sunday Concerts" and the "Henry Wood Promenade Concerts"); Royal Festival Hall (1951-1981) and the Barbican Centre (1982-). In addition, the Stoll Theatre and Cambridge Theatre were used as venues during the 1940s.

A number of programmes are from the following concert series: "Sunday Concerts" (Royal Albert Hall); "Promenade Concerts" (Queen's Hall and Royal Albert Hall); "LSO International Series" (various venues).

The orchestra's first concert took place on 09/06/1904 at Queen's Hall and was conducted by Hans Richter. The collection also includes programmes from the first concert series given by the orchestra at Queen's Hall in the 1904/05 season.
