Description
A collection of one magazine file, of 17 programmes from 1851 to 1951.
The majority of programmes are from large-scale choral concerts, often from performances of oratorios. These programmes are from the following venues: Exeter Hall; St. James’s Hall; Royal Albert Hall; Queen’s Hall. In addition, there is a programme from a concert given as part of the Leeds Musical Festival, where the venue is unspecified venue. The Royal Choral Society features prominently in these programmes, in particular at concerts given at the Royal Albert Hall. The programmes date from the second half of the nineteenth century, as well as the first decades of the twentieth century. A number of programmes contain words, or are attached to word books for the event.
Other programmes in the collection relate to the following venues: Wigmore Hall; Town Hall, Huddersfield; Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool. There is also a London Orchestra Concerts guide from 1938-1939.
