Description
A collection of eight programmes from the Spencer Collection, which date from 1912 to 1995. The majority of items are from the 1980s and 1990s. The programmes relate to performance of early music, which includes instrumental music and vocal music. The exception to this, if the earliest item in the collection - a programme form Stationer's Hall in 1912 - which consisted of music from the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Though the majority of items are from London performances, there are a few programmes from provincial or foreign concerts. The venues represented in the collection are as follows: Wigmore Halll; Barbican Centre; Stationers Hall; Boughton Aluph Church; Queen Elizabeth Hall; St. John’s, Smith Square; Ishibashi Memorial Hall, Tokyo. In addition, there is a programme from a concert supported by France Musique – a French broadcasting station – that does not specify the venue. A number of programmes in the collection are festival brochures from the “Early Music Centre Festival”.
