Collection name Joseph Barnby Collection (1893-1895)
Unique identifier
Description A collection of 3 volumes of programmes from the collection of Joseph Barnby, 1893 to 1895.

There are two volumes – which are identical – containing programmes from the second Cardiff Triennial Musical Festival. These are from concerts that took place in Park Hall, Cardiff from 18th to the 21st of September, 1895. There were two concerts per day of the festival, and eight programmes in each volume. The concerts contained large-scale choral items, both secular and sacred, and were conducted by Joseph Barnby. The programmes contain lists of orchestral members and choral members.

There is a volume containing the programme and sheet music from a “Conversazione” held at Mansion House on 12th May, 1893. This was organised and featured performances by the London Sunday School Choir. Joseph Barnby gave an address at the event.
