Description
A collection of four volumes of programmes from the Birmingham Musical Festival, 1903 to 1912. There are volumes from 1903, 1906 and 1912 (2 copies). The concerts took place in the Town Hall, and were given in aid of the General Hospital. The festival took place in October, and occupied a Tuesday – Wednesday – Thursday – Friday formation. There were two concerts per day. The concerts contained oratorios, large-scale choral works, orchestral songs and a few songs or a concerto. The conductor of the festival was Hans Richter for the 1903 and 1906 festivals, followed by Henry Wood in 1912.
