A collection of one volume of programmes from the Philadelphia Orchestra, from 1989 to 1990. The programmes contain analytical programme notes, and include glossaries of musical terms used in the notes. The volume also contains a “resume”: this includes details of concerts given outside of Philadelphia, as well as various tours; details of soloists and conductors; music lists of all the concerts given by the orchestra.
The concerts took place in the Academy of Music, Philadelphia. The music director of the season was Riccardo Muti, and the associate conductor was William Smith.
The season lasted from September to early May. There are 47 separate programmes listed in total, and each of these programmes was given two to four times in various patterns of days.
