Description A collection of two volumes of programmes from the Philadelphia Orchestra, from 1942 to 1944. The programmes are entitled “The journal of the Philadelphia Orchestra” and contain analytical programme notes.

The concerts took place at the Academy of Music, Philadelphia. The music director for the seasons was Eugene Ormandy. The concerts took place from October to April, and there were 28 concerts per season. Each concert was repeated at least once. A typical pattern of concerts would be Friday afternoon, Saturday evening, with an additional concert on a Monday evening on some occasions.
