Description
A collection of 29 programmes from BBC concerts, 1944 to 1945. The programmes include analytical programme notes. The programmes are largely from the provinces; the majority are from orchestral concerts given by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and there is one programme from the BBC Theatre Orchestra.
The programmes from the BBC Symphony Orchestra are chiefly from concerts given at the Corn Exchange, Bedford. Other venues visited by the orchestra include: Guildhall, Cambridge; Odeon Luton; Royal Albert Hall (concert organised by the Royal Philharmonic Society). Various choirs joined the orchestra in some of these concerts: choirs included the BBC Chorus, BBC Women’s Chorus and Luton Choral Society.
The collection also includes a programme given at the Corn Exchange, Bedford by the BBC Theatre Orchestra.
Arrangement:
BBCSO programmes are organised by their geographic location (Bedford, Cambridge, Luton – then London); then they are arranged chronologically. The BBCTO programme is at the end of the collection.
