Description
A collection of 12 programmes from the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts, Winter Season 1952. The concerts took place from 7th to 19th January in the Royal Albert Hall, London. The collection contains a complete set of programmes from the season, which featured one concert a day for two weeks, running Monday to Saturday. The collection also includes an overall season guide, which contains a programme list for each concert and an index of works performed. The season was promoted by the BBC, and concerts were given by the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Malcolm Sargent conducted the majority of concerts, with the remaining concert conducted by Basil Cameron. In addition, some concerts also featured performances by the BBC Singers and the BBC Symphony Chorus. The programmes contain analytical programme notes; the programmes also contain a number of portraits of Malcolm Sargent.
