Description A collection of 12 programmes from the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts, Winter Season 1949. The concerts took place from 10th to 22nd January in the Royal Albert Hall, London. The collection contains a complete set of programmes from the season, which featured one concert a day for two weeks, running Monday to Saturday. The collection also includes an overall season guide, which contains a programme list for each concert and an index of works performed. The season was promoted by the BBC, and concerts were given by the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Malcolm Sargent conducted the majority of concerts, with the remainder conducted by Stanford Robinson. In addition, one concert also included a performance by the Goldsmiths’ Choral Union. The programmes contain analytical programme notes.
