Description
A collection of 12 programmes from the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts, Winter Season 1947. The concerts took place from 6th to 18th January in the Royal Albert Hall, London. The collection contains a complete set of programmes from the season, which featured one concert a day for two weeks, running Monday to Saturday. The collection also includes an overall season guide, which contains a short introduction to the season as well as listings of each concert. The season was promoted by the BBC, and the concerts were given by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Adrian Boult and Basil Cameron. In addition, some concerts also included performances by the BBC Singers, BBC Symphony Chorus or BBC Choral Society. The programmes contain analytical programme notes.
