Description A collection of one scrapbook of material from the Sacred Harmonic Society, 1855 to 1856. The collection contains programmes and performance ephemera including press cuttings, tickets, announcements and correspondence. The collection includes 33 programmes. The programmes relate to concerts given at Exeter Hall by the Sacred Harmonic Society, which were conducted by Costa. The programmes are from concerts of large-scale choral works – often oratorios – and include repertoire by, for example, Handel, Mendelssohn and Haydn. The programmes include numerous performances of Costa’s choral work “Eli”. The collection includes one programme from a concert at Buckingham Palace in 1856, with an unknown set of performers.
