Collection Description
Collection name
Marylebone Gardens (1730-1855)
Unique identifier
Description
A scrapbook of programmes and performance ephemera from Marylebone Gardens, 1730 to 1835. The collection includes plans, press cuttings, tickets, iconographic material and printed music: the end of the scrapbook features sheet music from numerous songs which are advertised as being sung at Marylebone Gardens, and are chiefly taken from magazines published in 1753. There is one programme in the collection from “A grand concert of vocal and instrumental music”, which took place on 01/09/1772.
Arrangement:
Though there is no discernible absolute arrangement of the scrapbook, the earlier material tends to be near the beginning of the item. In addition, the majority of printed music is at the end of the scrapbook.
