London - New Rooms, Hanover Square: Vocal concerts (1816-1818)

Description
A collection of programmes from the New Rooms, Hanover Sqaure. The majority of programmes are from a series of concerts entitled “Bartleman, C. Knyvett, W. Knyvett, and Greatorex’s Vocal concert”. There are nine programmes from the 1816 series, which date from 1/3/1816 to 10/5/1816. There are nine programmes from the 1818 series, which date from 6/3/1818 to 15/5/1818 and form a complete series. The concerts included part-songs, choruses and instrumental items. The collection contains lists of subscribers to the series for both 1816 and 1818: these are housed within the last 1816 programme and separately at the end of the 1818 series respectively. The collection also includes programmes from various benefit and miscellaneous concerts: these took place in April to June in 1816, 1817 and 1818. These were largely associated with the individual organisers of the vocal concerts (Bartleman, C. Knyvwtt and W. Knyvett, Greatorex) as well as Mr and Mrs Vaughan.
Arrangement:
The programmes are loosely arranged in chronological order; exceptions to this are the programmes from 1817 concerts.
