Description
A collection of eight programmes from concerts given by the Oriana Madrigal Society. The programmes are from concerts given chiefly at the Aeolian Hall, but include one programme from a concert given at the Portman Rooms. The programmes date from 1908 to 1923 – the society was founded in 1904 – and are chiefly from concerts of choral music. There are also a few items of instrumental music represented in the programmes. Though the concerts focus on music from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the programmes also feature some contemporary British music by composers such as Holst, Bax, Grainger and Elgar.
