Description Edinburgh Royal Choral Union: Box 3 of 6 (1958-68)
Collection of ca. 200 programmes, newspaper cuttings, posters, handbills, and prospectuses from seasons 101-110 of the Edinburgh Royal Choral Union, with every season in a separate envelope within the box. Within each envelope is also a list of all the concerts performed in that particular season (not all of which have programmes), with a record of venue, works performed, conductor, orchestra, and soloists, and indications of first performances in Edinburgh and Scotland. Most of the programmes have been signed by soloists and conductors.

Highlights of the collection:
21/11/58: Centenary Concert conducted by Adrian Boult and Herrick Bunney, with the Scottish National Orchestra and soloists Heather Harper (soprano), Janet Baker (contralto), Honor Sheppard (soprano), John Mitchinson (tenor), and John Cameron (baritone): Usher Hall.
13/3/59: With the Scottish National Orchestra conducted by Herrick Bunney and with soloists Margaret Ritchie (soprano), Monica Sinclair (mezzo-soprano), Peter Pears (tenor), and Donald Bell (bass).
4/9/60: As part of the Edinburgh International Festival, with the Scottish National Orchestra conducted by Vittorio Gui, with soloists Victoria de Los Angeles (soprano), Oralia Dominguez (contralto), Richard Lewis (tenor), and Giuseppe Modesti (bass): Usher Hall. Programme has been signed by the soloists.
8/9/61: As part of the Edinburgh International Festival, with the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Otto Klemperer, and with soloists Heather Harper (soprano) and Janet Baker (contralto): Usher Hall. Signed by soloists and conductor.
10/4/64: First Scottish performance of Britten's War Requiem, with the Scottish National Orchestra conducted by Alexander Gibson, and soloists April Cantelo (soprano), Gerald English (tenor), and Donald Bell (baritone): Usher Hall. Programme signed.
17/3/67: With the Scottish National Orchestra conducted by Charles Mackerras and soloist Donald McIntyre (baritone): Usher Hall. Programme signed.
