Description

An extensive archive of concert programmes and annual prospectuses dating back to the foundation of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in 1920. The archive holds a near-complete run of programmes for the orchestra's Birmingham concerts and many individual programmes for 'out-of-town' concerts. The archive also holds a small collection of programmes of non-CBSO concerts. A few of these are from the late nineteenth century, but most date from the 1920s or 1930s. These are mostly of choral/orchestral concerts promoted by local choral societies, often involving CBSO players.
