McCann Collection: Australia (1927-1990)
Description
A collection of one box of programmes from the McCann Collection. The collection contains programmes from concerts given outside the United Kingdom and were collected by the concert agent Norman McCann (1920-1999).
There are programme from the following venues: Town Hall, Sydney (2); Melbourne Town Hall (2); Auditorium, Melbourne; Downey, Camden, New South Wales; Town Hall, Tamworth; Llewellyn Hall, Canberra School of Music; Perth Concert Hall; Music Auditorium, University of Western Australia; Concert Hall, Queensland Performing Arts Complex [Brisbane?].
There is also a programme from Conservatorium Hall, which is possibly based in Sydney.
There is a prospectus for the 1990 season of concerts given by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra; the majority of these concerts took place in the Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House. There is a leaflet for a series entitled “Music Viva”. This took place in the Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House, and in the Everest Theatre, Seymour Centre [Sydney].
There are two festival programmes for the Festival of Perth. There are also programmes from “Melbourne Summer Music” and “Australian Festival of Chamber Music” [Townsville, North Queensland].
There is a prospectus for ABC orchestras and concert artists in 1986. The prospectus covers concerts spanning many locations in Australia. There is another prospectus from the Australian Broadcasting Commission. This lists concerts taking place in 1938, in wide variety of venues in Australia.
There are three programmes from multi-venue tours or programmes where the venue has not been specified.
