Description
A complete set of analytical programmes for the six Symphony Concerts given by the London Symphony Orchestra at the Queen’s Hall, Langham Place between October 1919 and March 1920 (fourteenth season). Also, an analytical programme for the Special Symphony Concert given in aid of the London Symphony Orchestra Endowment Fund on 17 May 1920.
These were all two-part orchestral concerts with some concertante pieces and a number of first English performances (see below).
All programmes carry historical and analytical notes including musical examples (by Mr Henry Coates) and provide a list of the orchestral ensemble: unless otherwise stated, this was led by Mr W.H. Reed and conducted by Albert Coates. There are also a number of advertisements, some with programmes, for later performances in this series and for ‘other engagements’ featuring the London Symphony Orchestra.
